Background
Ancient Herbalism is an educational VR cooking mini-game developed during XR Creative Con Hackathon 2025.
The project reimagines traditional Indonesian herbal remedies as an interactive experience. Players wash, slice, boil, and filter natural ingredients to craft herbal potions based on real recipes. The goal is to introduce cultural heritage through simple, playful, and immersive gameplay.

⚙️ How we built it
Concept & Research
Defined the core idea around Indonesian herbal traditions and identified simple cooking actions that translate well into VR interactions.
Gameplay Flow & UX Design
Designed a modular step system for washing, cutting, boiling, and filtering to guide players clearly through each recipe.UI Design
Created minimal, friendly UI elements such as step indicators, customer feedback, and progress cues that do not distract from gameplay.

Iteration & Testing
Tested interaction clarity and adjusted visual feedback to ensure players understand correct and incorrect actions quickly.Presentation
Designed visual scenes and UI for the trailer to clearly communicate gameplay, theme, and cultural value within 60 seconds.
🔜 What's next
Add more traditional herbal recipes from different regions in Indonesia.
Expand the system so other countries can introduce their own herbal traditions.
Improve feedback animations and sound design for stronger immersion.
Refine UI and accessibility for broader audiences and educational use.
